
The big news story this week across the nation is the heat. Over one third of the United States population is under some sort of heat advisory or warning. With that, heat illnesses are on the rise. We talk about them, but people really need to listen and be careful. USDA Health and Safety Dee Jepsen says it’s not something we need to glance over. She says heat stress symptoms can sneak up on you and she talks about some serious signs of trouble:
Farmers are particularly prone to heat illnesses and need to be cautious. She adds that those who have suffered a heat illness before, are more likely to have the same issues again. The key is be smart, listen to the warnings and do everything you can to stay hydrated and cool.
