A vehicle fire early yesterday morning destroyed a Baldwin man’s car. Yesterday morning July 26th, at 2:00, a call came in of a vehicle fire in the 200 block of Shawnee road. Eighteen year-old Joshua Mayo, of Baldwin City reported that his Mercury Mountaineer had overheated and caught fire. By the time fire crews arrived at the scene, the vehicle was fully engulfed. Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames, however, they were unable to save the vehicle. No one was injured in the fire, however, Mayo’s vehicle was listed as a total loss.
