The Ottawa Police are getting serious about fentanyl. Yesterday morning, the Franklin County Drug Enforcement Unit and the Ottawa Police Department Star Team executed a search warrant in the 1100 block of Augusta Llane. As a result, 21-year-old Fabian Soto of Ottawa, was arrested on charges of unlawful distribution of fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp, and interference with a law enforcement officer. Soto is being held in the Franklin County Detention Center pending formal charges by the Franklin County Attorney. Captain J. W. Hawkins of the Ottawa Police, says that deterring fentanyl use and distribution is a priority focus for drug unit detectives and patrol units. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office and Ottawa Police have interrupted several fentanyl distribution networks, but more remain and likely will for many years as the crisis continues to grow in the community.
