In its fifth semi-annual report examining hospitals’ compliance with the Federal Hospital Price Transparency Rule, patientrightsadvocate.org found that 74% of hospitals in Kansas continue to keep patients in the dark by not fully complying with the law. The new analysis of 2,000 hospitals found only 6 of 23 hospitals reviewed were fully complying with the rule, that’s 26%. Nationwide only 36% are compliant.
The Nation’s largest hospital system, HCA Healthcare didn’t have a single, fully compliant hospital, and none of the facilities owned by HCA Health, Tanet Care, Providence, Avera, and several other health care systems, were found compliant. Locally, AdventHealth Ottawa and AdventHealth South Overland Park, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Menorah Medical, Overland Park Regional, Providence Medical and the University of Kansas Health System were not complying with the rule.
