An injury accident that resulted in a DUI charge in Pomona Friday morning August 4th. Just before 9:30, a car traveling westbound in the 200 block of Franklin in Pomona left the roadway and struck a tree for an unknown reason. Thirty three year-old Hanslee Dunn of Ottawa was transported to AdventHealth Ottawa for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash. The Franklin County Sheriff reports that a case for driving under the influence, transporting an open container, no ignition interlock and possession of marijuana is being forwarded to the Franklin County Attorney’s office.
In a separate accident near Wellsville. 26-year-old Dearion Cooper, of Baldwin was traveling eastbound in the 3700 block of Shawnee Road, when he left the roadway, entered the ditch, reentered the road, went back into the ditch and struck an anchor cable for an Evergy utility pole. The vehicle overturned into a barbed wire fence. Cooper left the scene of the crash, which apparently happened at about 3:40 that morning, the report was not taken until just before 6:30. No word on any injuries to Cooper.
