Country music icon Dolly Parton will be in Kansas City Kansas, Monday, August 14th. Governor Laura Kelly will welcome -arton for a celebration of the state wide success of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The event is hosted by the Imagination Library of Kansas and will be closed to the public. Governor Kelly will deliver brief remarks and participate with a sit down conversation with Parton.

The Imagination Library was launched in 1995 in Tennessee where Parton grew up. Since then, the program has expanded worldwide and is available in the U. S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Ireland. Interestingly, the first Imagination Library site outside the state of Tennessee was started in Pratt, Kansas and the Sunflower State is now celebrating over 52,200 children enrolled, and celebrating the milestone of gifting more than 3.8 million books to children. The event will be held in the KC Metro at 2:30 Monday afternoon.
