An Ottawa firefighter has already been called on to help fight fires in other states. Fire Chief Tim Matthias says the action is in California:
In late July, the Ottawa Fire Department signed a memorandum of agreement with the Kansas Forest Service, after getting many of Ottawa firefighters trained on wildfires. Matthias says they can only send one firefighter at this point because of staffing shortages.
