District Court Staff are having a hard time finding several witnesses in the case against a Welda man charged with multiple counts of child molestation. Of more than 30 subpoenas issued for the trial of Isidro Madrid, four were returned without service, according to court documents. Including a forensic interviewer, and two Children’s Mercy Hospital staffers who were unable to be located.

Eighty year-old Isidro Madrid was arrested last summer and arraigned last month on 14 individual charges of child rape, aggravated sodomy and aggravated indecent liberties, after a 12 year-old girl reported a July 2022 incident to staff at Children’s Mercy Hospital. The girl subsequently reported a string of similar incidents over the past five years. Interviews conducted with other family members yielded multiple other incidents dating back to 2009.

District court has set aside the week of January 22-26 for the jury trial.
