The Franklin County Conservation District wants to remind people that in the event of a government shutdown, the Conservation District will still be able to assist customers. We are funded with county and state dollars, not federal dollars. They have a partnership with Natural Resources Conservation Service which allows them office space in the USDA Service Center. However, if a shutdown were to occur Conservation District staff is not allowed in the USDA Service Center while the federal government is shutdown. Conservation District staff would be available from a remote site via email if a shutdown were to occur. Their email address is “[email protected]” they will also leave additional information on their voicemail to assist producers with reaching them as well. Please use 785-241-7201 to reach the Franklin County Conservation District voicemail directly.
If a federal government shutdown occurs, the USDA Service Center will be closed and all federal employees will be unavailable until the shutdown ends. If you have appointments scheduled with Farm Service Agency for Livestock Forage Program Application, the appointments will have to be rescheduled once staff returns to work.
