Ottawa Police and surrounding law enforcement are looking for a suspect who fled from police and struck a patrol car. About 3:15 yesterday afternoon, October 8th, Ottawa police officers were dispatched to the area of 23rd and Princeton for a reported stolen vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot and it fled the scene, prompting a pursuit. The suspect vehicle, a Chevrolet truck, then struck an Ottawa Police patrol car before continuing to flee north on Interstate 35. Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Wellsville Police Department assisted as the vehicle left Franklin County. A short time later, Johnson County law enforcement took over, then lost contact with the vehicle, so the pursuit was terminated in rural Johnson County. The suspect was not apprehended.

Officers are continuing to follow up on this case. Fortunately, no officers were injured during this incident and damage to vehicles are being assessed. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Department.
