A Political Forum is being held tonight, October 19th, in Garnett. The Garnett BPW is sponsoring the Candidate Forum. Both City Commissioners and the USD 365 Board of Education has been invited to participate. The Garnett City Commission has one position available, with four candidates vying for it. Current Commissioner Jason Sheahan’s position is up for grabs. Although he will be on the ballot, he has said he is endorsing write-in candidate, Nate Weil and is asking people to not vote for him. Weil, along with Paula Scott, announced their write-in candidacy last week. On the ballot will be Sheahan and Mark Powels, who both filed by the June 1st deadline. The new commissioner will take the seat in January. All USD 365 School Board Members up for reelection have been asked to attend. The Forum will be held tonight at 7:00 at Town Hall Center.
