A Williamsburg man is facing life in prison after charges of murder were filed against him. Forty-eight year old Christopher Hassell was officially charged with first-degree murder and aggravated burglary Tuesday afternoon, October 24th, in Franklin County District Court.

Saturday morning, Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the home of 64-year old Mark Ambler, of Williamsburg, who was found deceased in the residence. Deputies initiated a homicide investigation and as deputies continued that investigation, Hassell was located by the Sheriff; Office K-9 Unit shortly after 5:00 Saturday afternoon in the general vicinity of the crime scene.

According to court documents, Hassell allegedly broke into Ambler’s home while he was there, to commit a felony and/or a theft. The complaint also alleges that Hassell intentionally killed Ambler, with premeditation. At the hearing, Ottawa Attorneys John Boyd and Jack Hobbs were appointed to represent Hassell. Hassell’s bond was set at one million dollars, cash or surety. A status hearing in the case is scheduled for December 12th.
