Think about this…a tornado is bearing down on Ottawa or another part of the county. The power goes out, the wind comes up. Is the storm coming to you? You listen for a warning siren. Will you hear it? The Franklin County Emergency Management office is trying to get some federal funding to upgrade storm sirens in the area. Emergency Management Director, Tom Winter, says right now operating the sirens is kind of a game of chance:

Winter says if they find something wrong with a siren, then the public can be alerted by some other method.
