At the final regular meeting of 2023, members of the Osawatomie City Council voted to approve the proposed changes to the organization’s fee table. Categories updated for 2024 include rental fees for the city’s three facilities: Memorial Hall, Old Stone Church, and the Municipal Auditorium and an increase in permit fee for solicitations. Fees for the sale of burial spaces at Osawatomie Cemetery were also updated for the first time in several years.
The council will welcome a new board member at its meeting Thursday, January 11th. Longtime Representative Karen Ledoux steps down and Councilman elect, Derek Henness, will take her place at the Council Table. Henness, who is an Osawatomie native and Osawatomie High graduate, will be sworn in, during the council’s regular meeting that night.
Ledoux will be honored for her 17 years of service to the community at a special Farewell Reception before the meeting. The casual come-and-go reception will begin at 5:00 Thursday afternoon at Memorial Hall and will feature light refreshments
