Sunday night, January 14th, just before 8:00, the Osage County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call of a possible house on fire at 329 W 9th Street in Lyndon. The reporting party, a neighbor, advised that there was smoke coming from the roof and the house was possibly occupied.

Osage County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived within minutes. Realizing that the house was occupied, deputies forced entry, and alerted the occupants to the fire, safely removing them from the residence. Fire crews from Osage County Fire Districts #5, #2, and #3, along with Franklin County Northwest Fire District, battled the fire for several hours in temperatures below zero, with wind chills much lower. Osage County EMS was on scene during the incident as well, due to the extreme conditions. Osage County Sheriff, Chris Wells says fortunately no injuries were reported, however, the residence was a total loss.
