Starting today, February 5th, the Kansas Department of Transportation expects to start projects to upgrade guardrail on sections of U. S 69 and U. S. 169 in Miami County.

The upgrades will take place along 10 miles of U. S. 69, from 1.3 miles south of 359th street to ½ mile north of K-68, and on 11 miles of U. S. 169, from 3.9 miles south of Baptiste Drive at Paola to 1.4 miles south of the Miami-Johnson County line. Traffic will be minimally impacted by the work. Weather permitting, both projects should be finished this summer.

KDOT awarded construction contracts totaling $1.5 million to Bettis Asphalt & Construction of Topeka.
