If you haven’t already noticed, Ottawa water rates have gone up, and, they are going to increase even more over the next five years. City Manager, Brian Silcott gave some details at the Ottawa City Commission meeting.
Funds from the increases will go toward wastewater plant upgrades, line maintenance, water plant maintenance and planned water line projects. Ottawa City officials have raised rates over the past few years in order to strengthen utility fund balances. Electric rates, that have been increased sharply over the past couple years, will be under review later in the year.
