Ottawa police were involved in a vehicle pursuit Tuesday night,, March 12, that ended up with the suspect crashing in Douglas County. Just before 10:00 Tuesday night, Ottawa Police were pursuing a white Honda Accord on 59 Highway, then westbound on U. S. 56, before losing sight of it. They were attempting to stop the vehicle initially after reports of an erratic driver.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the vehicle traveling north on East 550 Road at a high rate of speed, the driver committing many traffic violations. The driver of that vehicle crashed into a guard rail, at the intersection of North 950 and East 550 Roads before continuing for a short time to Clinton Cemetery where the vehicle became disabled. Deputies took a 30-year-old Pomona man into custody and booked him into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of fleeing, attempting to elude law enforcement and operating a vehicle without a valid drivers license. The man was not identified in the report.
