In this “What Is Our World Coming To” world. A high school student in Ohio is now being honored because he refused to remove an American flag from his truck. Officials at his school asked him to take the flag down because it could be offensive to other students at the school. Senior Cameron Blasek says he refused. Now, the American Legion is supporting him for standing up for what he believes in. Wednesday, March 13th, veterans gathered outside of the American Legion in Harrison to honor the high school student with the Red, White and Blue Award, along with $3,000 for his patriotism and courage. Blasek says all he wanted to do is fly the American flag, nothing more– nothing less, adding the flag is a symbol of unity and something that everybody can come together on no matter where you come from, how you look, or who you are.
By the way, the school backed down on it’s demand the next day, saying after careful consideration and in recognition of the importance of the U. S. flag as a symbol of unity and National identity, they would allow it to be flown by students in the parking lot.
UPDATE: by the way, a vehicle wrap company in Ohio has wrapped his truck in an American Flag wrap.
