Baker University has a need for more student housing and have somewhat solved the problem. They have purchased The Lodge. A motel at 5th and Ames, in Baldwin City. The University says it marks a renewed commitment to the growth and development of new student housing and experiences. They made the purchase from the Madle family, honoring the property’s legacy, while paving the way for its future integration into the University’s expansion plans. A transition agreement is proposed for collaboration with the Madle family, ensuring a seamless handover of operations by May 25th.
To honor the Madle family’s legacy and connection to the lodge, Baker will unveil a commemorative plaque as testament to the family’s contributions to Baldwin City and their impact on the community. They have pledged to give the same care and respect to the property as the Madle family has, to ensure it will be part of Baldwin City’s landscape for years to come.
Further details about the use of the facility will be released as renovation plans are finalized
