Police in Pawhuska Oklahoma have arrested an Edgerton homicide suspect to hold him for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Thirty two-year-old Joseph Wacaster, who was described by Johnson County authorities as possibly armed with a knife or firearm, and as possibly suicidal.

Johnson County relayed cell phone pings to the Pawhuska Police Department of possible locations where Wacaster could be and pings on his cell phone had a two-mile radius. As the investigation progressed, authorities in Kansas called the Pawhuska Police Department and notified them they had spoken with Wacaster and he told them he was on a dock while also admitting to the murder of 27-year-old Cade Blackburn of Edgerton. Police in Oklahoma were able to figure out that he was at Lake Pawhuska. When they arrived, Wacaster was on the dock alone, purportedly about to attempt suicide by loading his pocket with rocks and jumping in the water. A crisis intervention team was able deescalate the situation and he was taken into custody without incident.

He is being held on suspicion of murder and will be extradited to Johnson County.
