The World Cup Soccer Tournament is coming to the United States in 2026 and several games will be held in Kansas City, drawing hundreds of thousands of fans from all over the world. Could that have a positive affect on the city of Garnett? Garnett Commissioners discussed it at a recent meeting, after a meeting with Representative Sharice Davids staff who asked if they had discussed it. Commissioners had this discussion:
Commissioners will further discuss options available and make a poster or graphic advertising the amenities available in Garnett. They did mention that it would be nice if a major event was planned during that time to make it a draw for players and fans alike. The World Cup is schedule for June 16th through July 3rd, 2026, in KC.
