Law enforcement cameras that read car license tags resulted in one major achievement in Abilene, Kansas. The city of Wellsville plans to install these cameras, but they’re not yet in operation. Wellsville Police Chief Danny Hackler described the Abilene incident:
Hackler says the Wellsville cameras will be along 33 Highway mounted on poles. The cameras are powered by solar panels and he says some people have mistakenly believed the cameras are violating their privacy, but the camera’s only function is to read car license tags.
