Every year, the state of Kansas takes time to remember the tragedy of the Holocaust. Their ceremony honors the victims, and recognizes survivors, their children and World War II veterans. Jessica Rockhold with the Midwest Education Center says with the backdrop of what has been happening around the world, the commemoration is of particular importance this year:

The commemoration will be held this afternoon, May 6th, at 1:00 at the Topeka Downtown Ramada Hotel. Several people will be on hand to tell personal stories of their experience during the Holocaust and Governor Laura Kelly will make remarks. The ceremony is free and open to the public. It will also be live streamed on the MCHE Kansas City YouTube Channel
