A vehicle pursuit yesterday, May 9th, starting in Miami County led authorities through four counties before ending in Franklin County. Over the last several weeks, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office has received several concerns about a vehicle or vehicles traveling at high rates of speed on Lookout Road between 287th Street and 311th Street.
Yesterday afternoon, deputies positioned themselves on the roadway in an attempt to locate and stop any vehicle speeding. Just after 5:00 , deputies located a black pickup traveling at a high rate of speed in that area. They attempted to stop the vehicle and it fled from deputies.
The pursuit went through the western part of Miami County and over the course of the event it entered Franklin, Anderson and Linn Counties before being stopped in Franklin County. The Miami County sheriff’s office says they appreciate the assistance of the osawatomie police department, franklin county Sheriff’s office, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Linn County Kansas Sheriff’s Office during the pursuit and once again, working together to help protect all communities.
The driver of that truck is in custody in Franklin County on multiple charges. The Miami County Sheriff’s Office will be forwarding charges for the offenses here. The name of the driver was not released.
