Late yesterday, June 13th, Kansas GOP leadership and Democrat Governor Laura Kelly, cut an agreement on tax cuts that allows them to shift their attention to wooing the Chiefs and/or Royals to the Sunflower state. Before the Chiefs got their Super Bowl rings, Chiefs Chairman and CEO, Clark Hunt, was asked about the Special Session in Topeka where lawmakers are expected to try to sweeten the Star Bonds Package to attract the team:

A new option was introduced in Jackson County. A 3/16 cent sales tax that would only fund renovations at Arrowhead for the Chiefs. That comes after Jackson County voters rejected a 3/8 cent sales tax that would have covered Arrowhead renovations and a new downtown ballpark for the Royals.

Kansas GOP leadership says they won’t consider the Star Bond Stadium Package unless a tax relief package passes first.
