A take over, of sorts, on the Linn County Commission. At a recent meeting Commissioner Jim Johnson made a motion to replace Commissioner Jason Hightower as Chairperson, with Commissioner Danny McCullough. Johnson asked why, and Hightower explained it was part of procedure that they should be following.
The Linn County News reported that no Executive Session was held prior to or after the motions to change and no discussion led up to it or resulted from it. McCullough seconded the motion and it carried on a 2-1 vote with Hightower voting against it. The change puts McCullough in the position he voluntarily gave up during a meeting on January 8, 2024, when the commissioners approved a motion to re-organize the structure of the Board of Commissioners with Commissioner Jason Hightower as Chairperson and Commissioner Johnson as Vice-Chair.
