The Kansas Legislature passed Star Bond Legislation to lure the Chiefs and the Royals across the state line. With the passage of the bill the state could pay for up to 70% of the cost as a stadium project. KMBC’s Kris Ketz with reaction:
The bonds would be paid back over a thirty year period from new sale taxes created in the district, liquor taxes in the district, and money generated by a sports wagering fund. Cities and counties could participate, or opt out. Kansas City, Missouri and Missouri Governor Mike Parsons says they will counter the Kansas offer to try to keep the teams on the Missouri side of the state line.
