The Ottawa Fire Department, thankfully, rarely has to use their 100-foot tower truck, but when and if there is a need for its service, the city of Ottawa is thankful they have it. Whether it be fire in a taller building, getting a view from above on a house fire, or, in the incident yesterday, a thankful resident in need of a little assistance. They received a call yesterday, June 18th, saying that a pet iguana had escaped from a house and had climbed a tree, high enough that a traditional ladder wouldn’t reach. It’s owner wanted assistance to get the 3 foot lizard back in the house safely. The Ottawa Fire Department responded with the ladder truck and firefighter Ben Jones, went above and beyond to bring the iguana safely down from the tree.
A big thank you to the fire department, and to the city of Ottawa for providing the city with such a valuable tool, no matter the situation. The iguana was reunited with his family and the day was saved.
