It goes without saying it was definitely a man’s world back in 1776, but that doesn’t mean women didn’t play an important role in the founding of the Nation. In fact some copies of the Declaration of Independence were printed by a woman named Mary Katharine Goddard. That was just one of her achievements. Historian Martha Keys told CBS This Morning about another accomplishment:

Goddard served as Postmistress of Baltimore for 14 years; an unheard of achievement for a woman in that era.
