The Prairie Paws Emporia location held their official ribbon cutting this past weekend and held a free vaccine and microchip clinic, hosted by the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Director Vanessa Cowie says 181 pets were served at the clinic, some having to wait several hours in the rain with their pets. Emporia Mayor, Erren Harter, worked crowd control at the event. Cowie says the one thing they need is volunteers. She talks about volunteers at the Ottawa location:
If you would like to volunteer, give the shelter a call, or if you would like to be a foster family for some of the pets, especially kittens, give them a call today!
