There two injury accidents in Franklin County over the weekend. The first in the 200 block of Riley Road near Pomona. A 16-year-old girls was traveling eastbound on a minimum maintenance portion of Riley Road on a four wheeler, when she lost control due to the center of the road being washed out. She rolled the four wheeler and was thrown from it. The girl was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical center by Franklin County ambulance for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. No word on her condition.
Yesterday afternoon, August 18th, a woman driving a red van, turned out of Mini Mart, and drove the wrong way, northbound in the southbound lanes on South Princeton Street. As she approached oncoming traffic, they slowed. Witnesses on scene say it appeared the woman panicked and tried to take the turn into tractor supply too quickly and went into the ditch. Driver’s side down. The Ottawa Fire Department arrived quickly and expertly removed the windshield of the vehicle and amazingly, the woman was removed from the vehicle and was able to walk to the ambulance on her own power. She was taken to AdventHealth Ottawa for treatment of minor injuries.
