The Ottawa Police Department is posting the top 10 prevention and safety tips to make Ottawa a safer community. Summer time can be a time when crime increases and you can do your part in not becoming a victim of Ottawa’s most prevalent crime: property crimes. Tip number 8, 9, and 10 are lock your car, don’t leave the keys in the car, and report suspicious activity. Chief Adam Weingartner:
Weingartner says that property crime increased dramatically in 2022, but came down last year and is continuing to go down this year, and he hopes that with everyone’s cooperation, they can knock down the crime rate in 2024.
