The Ottawa Police Department is posting the top 10 prevention and safety tips. Number 2 on the list is….speed limits, do them. Speed is one of the top contributors in fatal traffic accidents in the United States. Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner with a reminder:
Last year, nation wide, nearly a third of all traffic fatalities were caused by excessive speed. That’s over 10,000 lives that could have been saved by just slowing down. In Kansas, 79 people lost their lives in speed related crashes, with over 2,000 serious injuries resulting from those crashes. Slow down, the life you save could be your own.
