If you are headed out toward Old Kansas City Road, you don’t have to navigate construction anymore. The extensive improvement project on Old Kansas City Road south of Paola is complete. The project included widening lane sizes from 10 feet to 12 feet, milling and overlaying the surface, flattening and widening fore slopes, and replacing crossroad culverts. Crews also installed/upgraded curve signage to meet current standards of the manual on uniform traffic control devices for streets and highways, and a safety edge was installed on both sides of the road.
A reminder that starting today, the Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin repairs on the K-68 bridge over Bull Creek and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. The bridge is about 2 miles west of U.S. 169. Work is expected to start today, September 3rd, and will continue for one week, weather permitting. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, controlled by signals. Drivers can expect short delays.
