In his monthly Mid-America Business Conditions Index Survey of supply managers, Creighton University Economist Ernie Goss, says the overall index for August was down from July and below growth neutral for the fourth time this year. According to supply managers, the greatest economic threats are an economic recession, significantly higher input prices, tariffs and trade restrictions. Regarding hiring, August was the eighth month below growth neutral.
In August, there was a slight decline in inflationary pressures from July. Inflation has remained at the fed’s target over the last three months.
