Next week, September 15th through 21st, is National Farm Safety and Health Week. This year’s theme is “Don’t Learn Safety By Accident”. Last year, there were 417 fatalities on the farm, making it one of the most dangerous professions in America. Most of those deaths involved accidents in transportation or equipment. Fall harvest time can be one of the busiest and most dangerous seasons of the year for the agriculture industry. We start off with Chase Monte, Assistant Sales Manager for John Deer Implements on road safety and what that orange triangle means:
Next week we will go over a variety of safety issues related to farming and agriculture in general, from rural road safety, health and wellness, children in farming, mental health of ag families and much more.
The USDA will be offering free webinars to all those interested in learning more about farm safety and health. If you would like to be a part of those, they are free, but, you have to register. Go to necasag.org for more information and to register for the webinars.
