This is National Child Passenger Safety Week, September 16th, and knowing your child is secure in a good car seat is comforting. But those seats can be expensive. Captain Mike Wilson from the Ottawa Fire Department says picking up a used car seat at a yard sale for cheap is not a good idea, because you don’t know the history of the seat. It could have been damaged in an accident. He says the fire department may have a way to help you out:
Wilson adds that they have two certified car seat technicians and more are being trained. If you have any questions of concerns about your child’s seat, give them a call or stop by the station…they would be happy to help.
