Many of us have seen or had the experience of dealing with wildlife that has been injured or orphaned and wondered what to do. The answer is usually, “take it to Operation Wildlife!” Located in Linwood, Operation Wildlife has been caring for injured or orphaned animals since 1989, providing rehabilitation and veterinary services. As the largest publicly funded wildlife rehabilitation in Kansas, they are dedicated to helping thousands of animals return to the wild each year, as well as educating local residents on how to keep wildlife wild! The key words here are publicly funded, meaning they are supported entirely by donations and do not receive any funding from city, state or federal entities. What type of animals do they take? Director Diane Johnson:
They need your help. They are holding their annual fall auction of unique and collectable items and a chance to release a live bird of prey. How cool is that? It’s an online auction. Go to “new.biddingowl. com/owlopenhouse” to bid on items, or follow the link on kofo’s facebook page. Bids are open until October 4th.
