If you have driven by City Park this week, you probably noticed construction of the new playground is progressing quickly. Crews from the Parks Department have been working hard to install the new equipment. City officials say they expect the playground to be complete toward the end of this month, October, and can’t wait for the community to enjoy the upgraded play space.

Playgrounds aren’t cheap. The city of Ottawa received a grant for over $119,000 and used $130,000 from the Special Parks Fund to install the new equipment . The upgrades will be safer and allow for more play time for more kids. The playground upgrades will be the second major change to City Park in the last several months as the very popular splash pad was installed and a big hit this summer.

Several Ottawa officials have commented on how nice it is to see people in the park; not only at the splash pad, but picnicking at the tables and the gazebo and playing in other parts of the park. They hope the new playground will enhance that experience.
