The Ottawa City Commission is holding a special session today, October 7th. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the commission room modernization project and meet with the designer of that project, Sidney Goldberg of Goldberg Group Architects. For years, renovation of the commission chamber has been talked about as the acoustics of the room are not good and the arrangement of the commissioners seats are not suitable for group discussion.
A more friendly design is being sought for both commissions and those in attendance as well. A construction date has not been set. Goldberg’s Group will be paid around $26,000 for the redesign, with the whole project estimated at about $250,000.
