A program this evening, presented by Franklin County EMS Chief Christi Hilliker, will be aimed at reducing the risk of opioid use and present the proper way to administer narcan, a drug used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Also attending is Libby Davis, an AdventHealth nurse who lost her son Cooper to a fentanyl overdose a few years ago. She will share her story and present some life changing facts about the drug.
Franklin County and Ottawa are not immune to the effects and devastating consequences of fentanyl. The community has seen death at the hand of the drug, but countless more have been saved with the use of narcan.
The Franklin County Substance Use Prevention Coalition Opioid and Fentanyl Awareness Event will take place tonight, October 16th, at 6:00 at the Franklin County Annex in the Commission Chambers. It is free and open to the public.
