The City of Ottawa recognized this week as World Homeless Week. The proclamation was accepted by president of the Ottawa Homeless Coalition, Brett Staneslow. He says many people think there are only a couple homeless people in Ottawa, but that number is much higher:
Staneslow added that the Homeless Coalition will hold a public meeting to discuss what the group is doing to assist the homeless in our area and talk about a winter shelter. It will be held October 24th at the First Baptist Church at 7:00 in the evening. After discussion and questions they will hold a training for those wanting to volunteer at the shelter once it opens. The public is encouraged to attend.
