Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner spent considerable time explaining his department’s community policing policies to the City Commission during their regular meeting. Weingartner told commissioners that there’s one type of crime that’s especially difficult to deal with:
Weingartner says his department has increased their emphasis on the ability to treat people experiencing mental health episodes and reaching out to social service experts who are experienced in the problem.
