When you go to McDonald’s in Ottawa, or the two in Emporia, you have the opportunity to donate to the Ronald McDonald house. Every year, the Ronald McDonald House Charity provides over 2.67 million overnight stays for families with children in hospitals, saving the families $736 million in lodging and meal expenses last year alone. They believe that no family should have to deal with their child’s medical crisis alone and definitely should not have to worry about overnight stays close to hospitals or food while they are there.
In September, the O’Reily family restaurants, who own the McDonalds in Ottawa and Emporia had a collection drive for the charity and raised over $1,900. The Ottawa location led the way in collections with over $1,200 donated. Thank you Ottawa and anyone who donated to the organization. That small act of dropping some coins or bill in the donation box really can make a difference to someone in need.
