One position up for grabs in the upcoming general election is the Kansas Senate District 12 seat. Kansas Senator Caryn Tyson, a Republican from Parker who represents District 12, will face Libertarian challenger Cullene Lang of Paola. Tyson says her work experience, education, and legislative experience make her the best candidate in this race. She says her conservative values and real-world experience have resulted in a record of cutting taxes and waste, exempting social security from state income tax, providing transparency in property taxes, and much more. If reelected, her top priorities would be to continue to cut taxes, protect the constitution, and support an energy plan that isn’t transporting power to other states at the expense of Kansans.
Lang says people should vote for her because Republicans have controlled the finances of the state for decades, yet our taxes are higher than ever. As a Libertarian, she offers an alternative to the current spend-thrift policies of our state government. Lang says that Republicans might tell you that government needs to stop buying champagne on a beer budget, but Libertarians say that government is an alcoholic and needs to stop drinking.
