A couple months ago, a man, magnet fishing on the bridge over the Marais des Cygnes river in Downtown Ottawa, pulled out a live Civil War Era cannonball. That cannonball was deemed live and was take by the Fort Riley Demolition Squad to be disposed of.
Sunday, a woman in Princeton called the Franklin County Sheriff’s office to report that she had found, what she believed to be, a live grenade in an RV she was cleaning out. Sheriff’s officials immediately called for assistance and the Overland Park Police Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene at 3731 Haskell Road in Princeton.
After an intense investigation process, the grenade was found to be inert and possibly a training grenade. It’s unknown how the training grenade got there or how long it had been in the RV. The bomb squad collected the device for training purposes.
