The election yesterday was a good day for Republicans in the State Legislature. The Republican supermajority will remain intact in the House and Senate. In Franklin County, in Senate District #3, Republican Rick Kloos defeated Dena Sattler 6,367 votes to 2,947. In the State Senator District #12 race, it was Caryn Tyson with the decided victory, 2,277 votes to Libertarian Cullen Lang’s 497. For State Representative District #5, Republican Carrie Barth over Democrat Henry Johns 1,237 votes to 269, and in State Representative District #59, it was Rebecca Schmoe retaining her Republican Seat over Democratic Challenger Michael Lewis, 7,721 votes to 2,966.
In the United States House of Representative races. In District 3, Democrat Sharice Davids secured reelection over Republican Prashanth Reddy, 201,917 to 162,321. In District 3,it was Derek Schmidt over Nancy Boyda 168,682 to 112,390 votes.
Franklin County Clerk, Janet Paddock, reports there were 12,534 ballots cast in the county, including 4,256 early voters, for an incredible 65.24% voter turnout, a huge number.
