A tragic accident has claimed the life of a Pomona man and seriously injured two Ottawans. Just after four, yesterday afternoon, November 14th, Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the intersection of K-68 and Indiana west of Ottawa for an injury accident. Upon arrival they found a two vehicle accident with three people injured. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by 83-year-old Milda Caleb of ottawa was eastbound on K-68, when she began to turn north onto Indiana road, not seeing an approaching westbound vehicle driven by Thomas Harmon, of Pomona, who collided with Caleb’s vehicle. Harmon died on the scene from injuries he received in the crash. Caleb was taken to KU medical center by life flight helicopter with life threatening injuries. A passenger in her car, 53-year-old Lester Caleb, of Ottawa was transported to AdventHealth Ottawa with serious injuries.
K-68 was closed in both directions for about two hours as crews worked the scene.
