The Kansas Department of Labor rolled out the long-awaited Unemployment Insurance System Modernization Project earlier this week. Remember , in 2020, when the covid pandemic exposed the weaknesses of the 40 year old computer system, causing it to crash? Governor Laura Kelly says all that could have been avoided if modernization been allowed to proceed. As of this morning, November 21st, claimants can file at a newly redirected website “kansasui.gov”. Users will be asked to create a new account to file a claim.
According to KDO:, the system will deliver an improved unemployment insurance experience by streamlining operations through improved workflow efficiency and adaptability, data management, and collaborations with other agencies. Also, enhancing user experience through adoption of advanced customer relationship management systems and personalized communication channels, more self-service options, and improved mobile-friendly access for claimants; and upgrading data security and compliance with enhanced cybersecurity measures to safeguard data and ensure regulatory compliance.
